- Stublach Gas Storage
Construction Sealants have been working at Stublach Gas Storage Project in several phases as the development grows.
The £500m facility based in Cheshire near the town of Northwich will be one of the largest in the UK, with a total storage capacity of 400 million cubic metres of natural gas when fully operational.
The project includes the creation of 28 caverns at a depth of 600m in three phases between 2013 and 2018. The first two caverns of the first phase were commissioned in September 2014. The facility is expected to be fully operational by 2020.
Once fully developed, Stublach will be the largest onshore gas storage facility in the UK and will enhance the security of gas supplies to the UK. The 450 million cubic metres of gas stored a Stublach is enough to supply 270,000 homes with gas for cooking and heating for 12 months.
