Construction Sealants Ltd are pleased to announce the new contract with Caledonian Building Systems Limited on accommodation at two development sites. Works will shortly be fully completed. Work started in October 2017 carrying out extensive external and internal work by two men sporadically over an 8-month period.
We are pleased to be working on the biggest hotel in Europe – a 1,500-bed development for workers on the site of Hinkley Point nuclear power station.
With major infrastructure work being carried out on Hinkley Point C, the need to not only house but keep workers happy on long-term projects is making the industry change its approach to temporary accommodation.
Hinkley Point C, Which Construction Sealants Limited are also working on is a huge £18bn project, to be completed in 2025.
During peak construction, they will require 5,600 workers, about two thirds will rent privately with the remainder housed in accommodation facilities in Hinkley and Bridgewater.
A new program has been developed using “hotel” style site accommodation that aims to take comfort levels for the resident workforce to a new level.
Although the hotel will be around for the long term, speed and the necessity to get facilities on site quickly meant that the decision was taken to use offsite manufacturing.
The accommodation is aimed to be the equivalent of three-star, fully en-suite hotel rooms. Each provides living space for one person, with a bedroom, bathroom, and lounge.
The Bridgewater Campus is the larger of the two developments, providing 29 accommodation blocks, each offering en-suite rooms for 34 workers. A further 15 buildings will be located at the Hinkley site, providing direct access to the construction zone.
When completed in 2018, it will provide 1,496 en-suite bedrooms across 44 buildings at two key sites – Hinkley Point C & Bridgewater.
